Volatility ... |
Recently sold of Asia Travel at a loss as it hit my criteria. At the moment, though market seems to be recovering, it should be viewed as a technical rebound. In the past, people buy on dips and it was a good strategy because it was experiencing a macro bull run. Now however, tables have turned and we are possibly experiencing a macro bear run.
Lets think of this in reverse, in the past, whatever you buy at random, chances are that it will rise. Today, whatever you buy at random, chances are that it will fall. Shorting on strength seems like a wise strategy. However, the financial charges incurred and the upward bias of stocks makes this strategy risky. Thus, we are left with picking the strong counters. Strong counters will still exhibit upward trend. Thus one should still keep your eyes peeled for such counters.
At the moment, it is volatile and unless you are a day trader, you would find such situation frustrating as it goes forward and backward without progress. Anyway, we would know if its really a recession when things calm down. |

February Post |
I have not been bloggin for a long time. During this period, I have been trying to sort out my final year project, and looking for jobs (any lobangs please email me. haha).
During this period, there isn't much activity with regards to my current portfolio.
MMP reit: Still holding and not intending to sell Tat Hong: Might consider topping up, though its going through bad spell at the moment Raffles MG: Holding it for considerable time Asia Env: Waiting to top up one last batch when the moving averages turn. Broadway: Might be selling it soon as moving averages have gone down. Tiong Woon: Sold already Boustead: Still holding Asia Travel: Might be selling it soon as moving averages have gone down. China Fish: Still holding and might top up when moving averages turn. MDR: Its still there. haha Bio Treat: Sold already Golden Agri: Share has split. Still holding though.
In this situation, where volatility is the norm, trading frequently more often than not results one to be at the wrong end of things. A longer term approach, though riskier, as the range of movement is larger, but it eliminates the noise.
Don't know why, but I feel I could handle such things better now. In the past, if I would have spare cash, I would find something to invest. But at the moment, I do have the cash, but I'm holding out for opportunities.
Nothing much to update at the moment. Will update lesser I guess, unless I make some transactions etc. |
