Aftermath |
Afterthought....
1. How much to hold? Portfolio management sucks. - Jurtech though rated a 7 by myself, decided to go in huge proportions. - Entry into pacAndes is not smart enough. Also rated a 7, entry proportion is all wrong.
2. When to take action? Entry and exit points sucks. - Did not follow my rules. - Did not cater to huge daily changes.
3. What to buy? Did average. - Weightage of buying conditions needs refinement. - Horizon of purchase needs refinement. - Need specific rules for different conditions.
Basically, I feel that I'm still raw in trading. Hesitation when cutting losses, overconfidence in average stocks got the better of me.
At least, my loss isn't that bad. Money can always be earned. Save my capital for another day! |

MMI returns of +9.77% in 21 days. (STI gained 3.6% during this period, MMI gained 9.77% --> +6.17%)

15th Feb clearout *edited |
Some of the momentum seems to have lost steam. To me, absolute returns are more important than paper gains. Well, I might have lesser returns than others but at least I have reasonable returns
Sold Pac Andes at $0.975. Though it has healthy trends, however, since I bought it at the middle of the trend growth, risk of getting negative returns is higher if I followed my system. Furthermore, the momentum seems to have lost steam and people are starting to sell.
(Crap, immediately after I sold, it surged to $1. haha. what the hell right) PacAndes returns of +19% in 31 days. (STI gained 5% during this period, PacAndes gained 10% --> +5%)
Sold BH Gloabl at $0.41. Despite good dividends coming, people are selling, momentum is gone. Like PacAndes, the fact that I bought quite late in a trend creates a risk of negative returns. BH Global returns of +2.5% in 28 days. (STI gained 4% during this period, BH Global gained 4% --> +0%)
Sold Synear at $2.02. No dividends but the reason is the same as the other 2. Synear returns of +14.12% in 28 days. (STI gained 4% during this period, Synear gained 16% --> +12%)
Sold MediaRing at $0.405. Stopped loss even though its too late. Another case whereby I hope things will go out all right. Well, it shouldn't be used as an excuse. So I have to buck up. MediaRing returns of -12.09% in 17 days. (shouldn't have followed my heart. Mechanically, I should have sold at 0.425. Though still a loss, but at least its cut shorter.. ) (STI gained +1.5% during this period, MediaRing gained -11% --> -12.5%)Labels: BH Global, MediaRing, PacAndes, Synear |

Long term outlook |
I have decided to go for longer term analysis. However, I'm still unsure of how to sieve out the exceptional stocks. I'm quite confident that my picks will grow and I will profit. but its the magnitude of growth that I want. Guess I will have to put in more nights of analyzing..
And when to sell is another issue.... sigh.. thats so tough.

Straits Asia Sold |
Got rid of another small share. Sold at $0.73 @ -10.51%
There are people who once mentioned that we should not put all the eggs in one basket...
But no one ever mentioned that we shouldnt hold so many baskets, so much that the cost of baskets outweighs the eggs...
Now I'm consolidating my finances after making the mistaking of overdifersification. Price to pay is high...

Diversification costs me |
Goodness me.. The amount of commission charges has incurred to more than $600. This is a very very very very significant portion of my investment pool..
Diversification really killed me this time..
I think in the future, the commission charges incurred will not take up more than 3% of my portfolio. Tentatively, it should be this way till I further fine tune it. |

Too panicky, too rushed |
On the day I sold CoscoCorp and CDL HTrust, I made two mistakes.
While Cosco was a fundamentally wrong decision, CDL HTrust was a rushed decisioin along with it. I gave it a 7 rating before I sold it. I should not sell it on the day itself, but I choose to sell it based on "feelings".
Lesson to learn.. Stick to your rules and dont waver away from itLabels: CDL HTrust |
